Measuring What Matters
Every number represents a life changed. Here is the measurable difference KYSO is making in Mpigi District and across Uganda.
Stories of Transformation
Behind each statistic is a real person with a real story. These are some of the lives KYSO has helped transform.
Aisha Namukasa
Hairdressing & Tailoring
Mpigi Town
Aisha joined KYSO as a 19-year-old school dropout and single mother. After completing the hairdressing program, she opened her own salon in Mpigi Town. Within one year she was earning enough to send her daughter to school and had hired one employee. She recently expanded to offer tailoring services as well.
Grace Nakato
Bakery & Entrepreneurship
Buwama Sub-county
Grace was referred to KYSO by a community health worker at age 22. The bakery and entrepreneurship training gave her both the technical skills and business confidence to start her own bakery. She now supplies bread to 5 local shops and 2 schools, employing 2 other young women from her community.
Mary Nantale
Agriculture & Financial Literacy
Nkozi Village
Mary, a young mother of two, used KYSO's agriculture training to transform her family's small plot of land into a productive farm. Combined with financial literacy training, she now saves regularly, has joined a VSLA group, and has taken a small loan to expand her vegetable business to the Mpigi market.
